TRN 7’s Rugby Tournament 2025 – Rules & Fixtures

Introduction

Welcome to the TRN 7’s Rugby Tournament 2025. This document sets out the official Rugby 7s rules, team composition requirements, scoring system, conduct expectations, and match fixtures. All players, coaches, and team officials must familiarize themselves with these rules. The tournament will be played on a World Rugby Laws-approved field.

📋 Detailed Rules

Core Team Composition Rules

On-Field Requirement: Each team must have a minimum of 2 female players on the field at all times.
Team Roster: Recommended squad of 7–3 players (5–7 men, 2–3 women) to allow for substitutions and injuries.
Starting the Match: All matches will start on time. 2 female players must be present to start.
- Grace Period: 5 minutes at organizer discretion.
- Forfeit: Teams unable to field at start time and without 2 females will forfeit the match (score recorded as 0-28).

Gameplay & Scoring

Equal Participation:
- Try by Female = 2 points
- Try by Male = 1 point
- This encourages inclusive, dynamic play.
Conversions: All conversion attempts = 1 point.
Tackle & Contact:
- A.Standard safe and legal sevens tackling applies to all players.
- C.Firm Hold will be in effect for female participants on males and for males on females.
- B.”Two-hand touch” will replace tackling in U19’s bracket.

Substitution Rules

Unlimited substitutions allowed during stoppages with referee approval.
Maintain gender balance: Substitutions must replace the same gender.
Blood Bin / Temporary Substitute: Female players must be replaced with another female or play short-handed until return.

Tournament Format & Points

Mixed-Gender Rugby: Male and female players compete together.
Competition Format: Pool Stage followed by Knockout Rounds.
Team Size: 7 players on the field, up to 3 substitutes.

Conduct & Eligibility

Minimum age: Rugby ready Team Captain Sign off.
All players must be registered with TRN or approved as an entrant by TRN management.
Participants must uphold Rugby Core Values: Integrity, Passion, Solidarity, Discipline, Respect.
Sanctions: Foul play, abusive language, disrespect towards referees, opponents, organizers or fans, atleast 2–3 warnings for calling in game offenses by players to referees, 4+ penalties in any single match, 1 player from the offending team, put forward by the captain, must leave for 2 mins, may lead to suspension or expulsion.
